“THE BIG LIE“

This phrase was used in a report prepared during World War II by the United States Office of Strategic Services in describing Adolph Hitler‘s psychological profile:

“His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.”

Seem familiar? This is the “right-wing” playbook! Whether it’s the birther thing, or calling him socialist, facist….., non-citizen. Whether it’s not acknowledging the failed Bush policies leading to the largest market crash since the great depression, and two unnecessary wars. Whether it’s not giving proper credit for successfully killing bin-Laden. Whether it’s saying no to or filibustering, virtually all of his proposals. How about the fact that for the first 9 months of his presidency he was governing under the Bush budget that ran until October of 2009.

They lie by commission, they lie by omission. They lie because they believe that the lie is working. They lie because not many are challenging the lies. This must stop.

A lie should not be allowed to die a natural death.
